Police say a suspicious substance that triggered an emergency response in Garff this week was the result of “innocent and accidental contamination”.
Emergency services turned out in full at an anti-wind farm campaigner’s home on Tuesday, 6 October, Manx.News reported. The response followed the discovery of a substance inside a parcel that had been dropped off for the campaigner at the local commissioners’ office.
Police described the operation as a multi-agency response. Replying to a follow-up request from Manx.News, a police spokesperson said the initial concern behind it “was genuine” but that the matter had been “resolved quickly”.
The spokesperson said members of the public had not been at risk.
“As such there are no further enquiries or investigations ongoing,” the spokesperson added.
