The Clerk of Tynwald’s Office plans to broadcast every public sitting of the island’s three parliamentary chambers as live video, Isle of Man Today reported on Friday.
No date has been set for the switch. The office hopes to have it running within the next few months, with the streams carried on social media.
The Speaker, David Ashford, MHK for Douglas North, said the equipment had been on trial in the Legislative Council chamber for the past year. It was used for this week’s Chief Minister hustings, which attracted more than 4,000 viewers.
“We are looking to be able to live stream all sittings,” Mr Ashford said.
He added that the chamber used by Tynwald and the Keys was not yet ready, so proceedings on Tuesday, 13 October, will again be available as online audio only.
At present the House of Keys can be followed live in audio on the Tynwald website. Public committee hearings have been streamed since October 2024, and hustings for the Legislative Council election were broadcast in March 2025.
Isle of Man Today said the change would give the public a further way to follow the debates and decisions taken on its behalf.
